Carter lied.
He didn?t have a house, he had a mansion.
A really huge 1.
When I stepped out of my dad?s SUV, I was shocked. I mean, I already knew Carter?s household was rich, but this mansion was humongous. Sin didn?t seem fazed at all, although since he had been here a great deal, but this was my first time. Slade just shoved his hand in his sweatshirt and looked about, one eyebrow raised. Sparrow was at my side, searching in awe at the mansion.
“Nice place,” Sparrow commented and my dad chuckled, nudging me.
“This could be yours, Sol,” Dad said using a wink and Slade glowered at my father.
I blushed when I understood what he meant and Slade took my elbow. “She?s seventeen, dad,” Slade stated prior to leading me into the house. I hooked my arm with his as we walked and he rolled his eyes, although he stayed close to me.
The inside was expensively decorated. There had been two sets of curved stairs leading to the top and large images of Carter and his brother had been hung up on the wall. There was also a picture of the whole family and I had to give it to them. The entire family was gorgeous.
I straightened out my dress, slipping out of my jacket. My brothers took their sweatshirts off and I looked at them in turn. Slade was wearing a black shirt more than dark jeans, his hair brushed and hanging around his face. Sin was wearing a white shirt with black jeans and Sparrow?s shirt was blue and white striped. They all looked really very good. My dad was basically wearing the identical as my brothers, a shirt that wasn?t tucked and dark jeans. He looked so much younger now. His hair wasn?t cut in a even though, so it hung more than his sharp eyes.
I looked over my dress in a mirror against the hallway and was glad to see no stains or wrinkles. The dress was black and fell down to just a little above my knees using a red bow around the waist that matched my hair. My hair was in waves about my shoulders and only my bangs had been clipped to my head having a gorgeous black clip with red gems that belonged to my mother before she had died.
Just then, a door creaked open and Grant stepped out in front of us. I looked up at him startled.
“Hello Solstice,” he greeted me and looked past my head. “Sin, Sparrow, Slade. Mr. Bloodline,” he stated one by 1, nodding to each and every of them in turn. “We?ve been waiting for you. I?ll lead you to the living room,” he said formally and turned, walking down the hallway. We followed behind him, my one inch heels clicking against the tiled floor.
Finally after what seemed like forever, we came into the living room. Carter instantly stood up and came over to me to crush me close to his chest.
“Hey! I?m so glad you came, I almost believed you were going to ditch us,” he laughed and kissed my forehead. I chuckled and then he turned around, putting his arm about my waist and went more than to two older, but good looking couple.
“Mother, Father, this really is Solstice Bloodline, my girlfriend and that?s her loved ones. Slade, Sparrow, Sin and that?s Mr. Bloodline,” he explained, pointing out each and every of them in turn.
Mrs. Street smiled widely at me. “Hello there, sweetheart. Carter, you never told me she was so beautiful. And Mr. Bloodline, nice to meet you. Come sit, please,” she said.
Next, Carter led me to an additional fancy searching couple and introduced me to them. “Sol, this is Grant?s parents, Dana and Joseph Caplene,” Carter stated and Grant came up behind me.
I smiled at them and shook Mr. Caplene?s hand. “Hello,” I greeted, warmly.
I looked in the young girl sitting on the couch and she buried her face in Mrs. Caplene?s dress. I knelt down and held out my hand.
“Hey there, cutie, what?s your name?” I asked her and she peeked shyly up at me. I felt every person?s eyes fall on me.
“D-Delilah,” she stammered. I reached out to take her hand and she pulled it back.
“That?s a gorgeous name! Do you realize there?s a song known as ?Hey There Delilah??” I asked her, grinning.
“N-no,” she answered, meekly just before perking up. “Can you sing it?”
I chuckled. “Sure, cutie,” I answered before beginning to sing.
“Hey there Delilah, what?s it like in New York City? I?m a thousand miles away, but girl, tonight
you appear so pretty, yes you do. Time Square can?t shine as bright as you. I swear it?s true.”
Delilah clapped delighted and wandered over to me. “You have a pretty voice,” she giggled and tugged on my hair. I winced the slightest bit, but laughed.
“Thank you,” I replied, lifting her up into my arms. Everyone looked surprised as they stared at Delilah and me and I blinked confused. The only individual who didn?t look shocked or puzzled was Slade, Sparrow and Dad.
“Is anything wrong?” I asked, confused. Carter tugged on my hand and I gently put Delilah down and she scurried back to her mother. Carter pulled me away from everyone else.
“Wow, she truly went to you,” he said, astonished and I looked at him, confused.
“What?” I asked him.
“Solstice, Delilah has cancer. She knows some thing is wrong with her and basically shut herself down. She doesn?t go to anyone anymore except her parents, not even Grant,” Carter explained and my eyes widened.
“Oh God, that?s terrible,” I gasped.
“Well, she truly likes you? There?s hope for her, she could live. We don?t know,” Carter admitted and I breathed a sigh of relief, glad to know. Everyone had begun talking once again and two older guys entered the living room from a diverse hallway from exactly where my household and I came.
“Landon, Maxwell, have you two met the Bloodlines? This is Solstice, Carter?s girlfriend and Landon, I?m certain you know Sparrow. That?s Mr. Bloodline, and Slade and Sin,” Mrs. Street introduced.
“Why don?t all you children go down to the household room? Grant, please take Delilah with you,” Mr. Street suggested.
When Grant went over to Delilah, she refused to go into his arms and to my surprise, reached out for me instead. Self consciously, I wandered over and picked her up, gently and followed Carter as he led us. I noticed two twin teenage girls follow us and remembered seeing them around the school hallway, though I didn?t know their names. I asked Carter who they had been and he replied that they had been Grant?s twin sisters, Alyssa and Leah who had been 16 and sophomores.
Delilah put her head on my shoulder and I felt Grant watching me as he walked by my side. I could tell he was upset and I tried not to let it bother me, but I couldn?t. I could be incredibly hurt if my own sister would rather be carried by an individual she barely knew than me.
The room Carter let us to was huge. There had been leather couches on one side along with a huge flat screen Television. On the other side of the room had been vending machines with drinks and snacks, a fridge and pool table as well as a couple of others. I noticed a karaoke machine against the wall and chuckled.
I went to sit on the couch and Delilah looked at me with massive eyes. Slade and Maxwell had been talking and so was Landon and Sparrow. Sin and Carter had been in their own conversations, the twins had been keeping to themselves, but Grant was watching Delilah and me.
I smiled at Delilah just before patting the seat next to me. “Come here, sit,” I urged and he paused just before coming to sit beside me. Delilah looked up at her big brother with innocent eyes. He took her hand and she smiled her head nonetheless on my shoulder.
“Can you sing the song once more?” she asked me, her eyelids drooping. I could see her fighting to stay awake.
“Sure, baby,” I smiled, rubbing her back and sat up straighter. Alyssa and Leah wandered more than to me and sat on the other couch and all of the eyes fell on us again. I cleared my throat before beginning to sing once more and thankfully, Sin joined in, given that he knew the song also. He had learned it on his guitar.
“Hey there, Delilah, don?t you worry concerning the distance. I?m correct there in the event you get lonely. Give this song one more listen. Close your eyes. Listen to my voice, it?s my disguise. I?m by your side.
“Oh, it?s what you do to me?Oh it?s what you do to me. Oh, it?s what you do to me?Oh, it?s what you do to me. What you do to me.”
Delilah clapped and giggled. I felt a hand on my back and smiled over at Grant. Carter was beaming at me and Slade watched, his face expressionless, but I could tell he was attempting to hide a smile. Alyssa and Leah were staring at Sin as if he was God. Sparrow grinned at me and Landon was searching me over, obviously not accomplished checking me out. Max was watching Delilah and chuckling.
“Why don?t you sing us a song, cutie?” I asked the toddler and she shied away, hiding her face in my shoulder. “Hey there, Delilah, come on now, don?t you be so shy. We?re all buddies and family here; we?re all having fun tonight. So go on and sing. Pretend it really is just you and me. We might be whatever we wish to be. So, Delilah, go on and sing. Just when, for me,” I sang along to the original tune of the song from the last verse, producing up the words as I went.
Delilah laughed and clapped her hands. “Teach me, teach me!” she squealed.
“Repeat soon after me, kay?” I asked and she nodded, eagerly.
“Hey there, Delilah?”
~*~
“You?re truly great with children,” Grant noted. Delilah had fallen asleep a whilst ago in my arms, so I returned her to her parents. The adults had been in the living room talking and also the rest of us had been at the family room just hanging out. I decided to obtain some fresh air and Grant offered to come with me. I accepted since I didn?t wish to be alone.
“Thanks,” I replied, seeking up at the dark sky. “I truly like small children,” I explained and he nodded.
“Ah, I see.”
“How old is she?” I asked him.
“She?s five years old,” Grant answered. I sat down on one of the chairs on the patio and Grant sat next to me.
“Delilah is beautiful,” I told him, honestly and a warm smile lit his face. Grant looked outrageously handsome when he smiled.
“Yeah, she is. I really like her to pieces,” he breathed and I found his hand.
“I could see that,” I told him and he looked surprised when I laced my fingers with his. Surprisingly, he didn?t pull back.
“I-I?it hurts me to know she won?t come to me?It hurts to know she won?t trust me,” he
whispered and hung his head. My heart ached for him and I wanted to hug him and erase his discomfort. It would kill me if my brothers didn?t trust me. I knew it would kill them if I didn?t trust them.
“I?m so sorry, Grant, I actually am,” I murmured.
He turned his head to look at me and a single tear at the corner of his eyes glistened inside the pale moonlight. “At least I didn?t lose her, Solstice, you lost your mother. I?m the one who need to be sorry?I?was such a jerk to you and you didn?t deserve it,” he mumbled and reached out to put his palm against my cheek.
“I deserved it, I didn?t exactly treat you nicely,” I admitted and he chuckled just before standing up and walking up in front of me. He pulled me up and crushed me to his chest.
“Thanks, Solstice, you brought my sister to life, I?m actually grateful,” he mumbled, lips at my ear. I held my breath and then when we heard thudding of footsteps, each sprang apart.
Carter appeared in the sliding patio door. He grinned at me and took my hand. “Hey baby, come on, let?s go, we?re gonna eat. Grant, you coming?” Carter asked.
Grant looked slightly annoyed, but Carter didn?t seem to notice. “Yeah, just a second,” he told him. Carter entwined our fingers, smiling down at me and led me by way of the hallway to the dining room. Everybody was seated around the long and wide table.
“Where?s Grant?” Mrs. Caplene asked.
“He?s coming,” Grant and I replied simultaneously and grinned at one another. There were three empty seats, side by side and I sat within the middle 1, with Carter sitting on my correct side, next to Slade who was frowning at us. There had been all sorts of food spread out on the table and when Grant came in to take his place beside me, everyone started eating.
I tried mostly everything given that Mrs. Street had cooked and was intent on producing us eat a whole lot and didn?t need to shove the food down my throat simply because every little thing was absolutely delicious. All of the boys ate like?properly, boys, such as the fathers. Alyssa and Leah picked at their food, although they ate and also the older girls ate every little thing on their plate delicately. I felt like a pig due to the fact I didn?t care about how I ate. I ate like I would eat at my house, a bit too close to how all the guys were eating. Mrs. Street and Mrs. Caplene didn?t seem to mind or believe I wasn?t ladylike or something like that. They had been watching me, amusement lighting their eyes.
It was an hour just before my family members and I decided to leave. Delilah had woken up right just before I left and had asked me for the third time to sing her ?Hey There Delilah? which I obliged to with no hesitation. I gave her a hug and kiss on the forehead prior to I left and she pecked my cheek. Carter and Grant walked me to the door and Carter pulled me in to kiss my lips. I lingered for a while and Slade broke us apart by coughing. Following Carter?s kiss, Grant gave me a quick hug and then Slade led me away.
I laughed at my older brother?s annoyance; he was so overprotective, but I couldn?t discover it annoying like most siblings would. I loved him and that was Slade?s way of showing he cared, because he was so serious most of the time (Note: I stated most of the time? He?s so not serious when we?re eating) and barely showed feelings. My father, Sin and Sparrow had been protective, too, but they obviously trusted Carter and Grant now. They had been laughing together with me at Slade, but he just gruffly led me into the auto.
Slade sat beside me and I hugged his arm, childishly, like I did when I was younger and I wanted one thing from him. He looked down at me, raising an eyebrow.
“What?” he asked, suspiciously. I just grinned and kissed his cheek.
“I enjoy you,” I told him and he cracked a smile, ruffling my hair.
We joked and laughed all the way house. My family teased me a whole lot and I was blushing the entire way. They showed no mercy. I lived by means of the torture of listening to Slade caution dad about teen pregnancy. I surely got a mouthful in that subject although Sin and Sparrow were cracking up. I could really feel Slade shake in silent laughter.
Dad opened the front door and we entered the house. Dad patted me on the back.
“I like those boys? families, Solstice, excellent choice,” he stated with a wink.
Slade yawned and crushed me to his chest in a bear hug. “Hm, nonetheless, I?m watching you, Sol, I?ll know in case you did one thing,” he warned and I squirmed, producing a face. Sin and Sparrow every gave me a huge hug before going off to bed. I turned off all the lights and then created my way up the stairs. In my room, I washed off my face, brushed my teeth and hair, changed into my pajamas after which finally slid into bed with my hair woven into a messy braid.
Sleep didn?t seem to be on the very same page as me as I lay awake on my bed, securely enveloped in my thick blankets. I was thinking about Carter and Grant. Grant had changed and I was glad. We were obtaining close and my face was beginning to hurt from smiling so much. And Carter?Positive I didn?t enjoy him but, but it seemed pretty damn close. He created my heart race when ever he touched me sensually.
And then Grant.
When you got to know him, he was the funniest individual alive. It was impossible to not laugh when he produced a joke and every single time I did, he just smiled at me. I fell in adore with his smile. His eyes twinkled when he laughed or smiled. Carter couldn?t compare, but my feelings for him became intensely serious and I think I was falling.
Too hard, too fast to be caught.
And I was scared, since I had never loved any person except my family members and maybe baby Delilah.
But Carter was so different and I was majorly scared.
Okay, sufficient mental babbling, I?m going to sleep.
