“I’m what?” Kara asked the doctor. She didn’t think it.
“Pregnant,” the doctor stated once again. “Sweetie, it is okay.”
“I can’t be…” She looked at Michael. His face was white. He had no expression.
“Well, abortion is usually an option.”
“No!” Kara replied quickly.
Michael didn’t say anything. Did he want an abortion? He knew how Kara felt about that.
What was Michael thinking? Was he unhappy? Why would he be. It was a baby. Their baby.
So did he not want it? They were surely going to speak about this.
Kara was still in shock. How could she not be? The truth is… they had gone farther than they really should have 1 time… But that was it. 1 time. And Kara beat herself up for it.
And it was just before Michael had proposed. The main reason Kara had wanted to get married to Michael was because they went too far. She felt they necessary to be together officially if anything did take place.
Well, they say that it only takes one time. And that is how it happened for Kara. She couldn’t believe it. Why would this take place to her?
It was her fault for letting them go so far. She could have stopped it all from happening. And then like an idiot she stated no when he proposed.
So what was she going to do now? Her mind was spinning. The room went from white to green in minutes. She felt dizzy. She felt… and that was when she fainted.
When Kara woke up she found herself lying on the couch in Michael’s residence. It was dark. No lights were on. She looked about to see if Michael was within the room with her.
He was on the recliner. His head was down and in his hands. He was leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. He was thinking.
She in no way thought about how this would effect Michael. He had an excellent Christian family members. Kara lived with only her mom for the last few years. Her mom would realize… she hoped. But would Michael’s loved ones? His small brother… How would he see him? What kind of example would Michael be?
“Michael?” she whispered, thoughts flooding her mind.
He looked more than at her. Then he slowly got up and went to her side.
“How you feeling Babe?”
“I’m okay. How are you?”
He sighed and sat on the coffee table. “What are we going to do?”
“I don’t know.”
“I do not know either Kara.”
“What do you mean? Do you not really like me?”
He didn’t reply.
Tears streamed down her face. “Are you saying you’re going to break up with me? Just since I’m pregnant? One thing which you did to me!”
“Kara…” he started. He tried to grab her hand but she pulled away.
“Don’t touch me!” She got up and grabbed her purse and jacket.
She walked out the door and did not look back. And he did not come right after her. She walked all of the way house. All four miles.
